Cavs sign guard/forward Alonzo Gee

CLEVELAND — It didn’t take long for the Cavaliers to fill the roster spot that became available when the team waived forward Jawad Williams.
One day after releasing the St. Edward High product, the Cavs on Tuesday signed guard/forward Alonzo Gee.
The 6-foot-6, 219-pound Gee appeared in a total of 16 games with San Antonio and Washington this season (5 starts), averaging 2.1 points on .433 shooting and 1.6 rebounds in 9.3 minutes per night. He will wear No. 33 for the Cavs.
Gee was named the 2009-10 NBA Developmental League Rookie of the Year and second-team all-league after averaging 21.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.5 steals last season. He shot .509 from the field and .393 on 3-pointers (24-of-61) while playing for the Austin Toros.
The former University of Alabama star signed a pair of 10-day contract with the Wizards last season and appeared in 11 games (2 starts), averaging 7.4 points on .475 shooting.
Cleveland’s roster is back at the NBA maximum 15 players, though Christian Eyenga and Samardo Samuels are currently with Erie of the D-League.
