Police Chief Keith Keough said Tuesday authorities suspect the robbery of Wayne Savings Community Bank, 303 Highland Drive, on Monday and FirstMerit Bank, 209 Wooster St., on Jan. 5 were connected and executed by two people.

“We have a warrant out for two people for both robberies,” he said. “There’s an accomplice we’re also charging.”

In each robbery, a white man described as in his 20s or 30s showed a bank teller a note that demanded money and implied he had a weapon.

Both times he fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt in either robbery.

Keough said he expects the FBI to file federal indictments, and the local warrants would be dismissed once the suspects are found.

“The FBI is working in other states to locate them, and I think they will be in custody very soon,” he said.
