YORK TWP. — Authorities arrested a 35-year-old township man who reportedly threatened to kill his brother this morning with a pistol.
Medina County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Matthew Allen Dalgleish, of 3528 Abbeyville Road, about 6 a.m. today at his residence after he allegedly stated via phone messages to family members that he was going to kill his 41-year-old brother, according to Chief Deputy Ken Baca, of the MCSO.
“The (initial) report says that (Dalgleish) was going to wait for his brother to leave for work this morning, and then shoot him in the head with a 9mm pistol,” Baca said. “(Dalgleish) conveyed this (information) to his brother and mother over voicemail messages on their cell phones. … He was saying his brother was the reason for all his problems.”
Four deputies apprehended Dalgleish at his home before he could encounter his brother and were forced to arrest him at gunpoint, Baca said. There were no injuries to officers or the suspect during the arrest.
“Deputies drew down on him and got him out of the house without incident,” the chief said.
Baca said Dalgleish reportedly came in possession of a stolen 9mm pistol from Elyria. Police officers from Elyria are to question Dalgleish about how he acquired the gun.
Dalgleish was arrested this morning on the charge of domestic violence, Baca said. Other charges are pending as the investigation continues.
