Highland Schools honored for Power of the Pen

Highland Local Schools received awards and honors at the district Power of the Pen tournament at Black River Middle School on Jan. 22.

Led by team coach Ron Hall, teams of seventh- and eighth-graders competed at the event. Twenty teams of six students each from surrounding areas participated at the event.

The Highland eighth-grade Power of the Pen team placed third overall and advanced to regional competition.

Rachel Boedicker placed 11th overall for the eighth-grade writers and Nikki Kobak placed third overall for the seventh-grade writers.
