Trucks destroyed by fire in York Twp.

YORK TWP. — The Erhart Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed two commercial trucks in a salvage yard Friday evening.

At approximately 5:33 p.m., firefighters were called to J and K’s Akron Medina Truck and Parts, 7125 Elyria Road, for a truck fire, Chief Ken Barrett said.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 5:38 p.m., a dispatcher at the Medina County Sheriff’s Office said.

The trucks were salvage vehicles and likely did not contain any gasoline, Barrett said.

“Anytime in a salvage yard you have the potential for flammable materials,” he said. “Luckily, these tanks were drained and being used as salvage only.”

Fire Departments from Valley City and Litchfield Township, as well as the Medina County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

No one was injured in the incident.
