GREEN SPRINGS — Ohio troopers say a 6-year-old boy was seriously hurt when he was dragged about 90 feet underneath a sport utility vehicle.
The State Highway Patrol said in a news release that Tye Warwick was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk Sunday afternoon when he was struck by an SUV pulling out of a drive-thru convenience store in Green Springs, about 40 miles southeast of Toledo.
Patrol Sgt. Brett Gockstetter told The Advertiser-Tribune of Tiffin that the 19-year-old driver said she didn’t see the boy and didn’t realize she had hit anything.
Gockstetter said at least three people lifted the SUV to rescue the child, who sustained broken ribs, a punctured lung and scrapes. The newspaper reports he was hospitalized in serious condition.
The patrol said the accident remains under investigation.
