Track & field: Jennifer Foster, Janelle Shaffer shine in loss

WESTFIELD TWP. — Seniors Jennifer Foster and Janelle Shaffer had standout Tuesdays for Cloverleaf’s girls track team in a 95-42 Suburban League loss to Copley.

Foster won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.6 seconds and the high jump with a leap of 5 feet. Shaffer took first in the 200-meter dash (27.8) and in the long jump (16-5).

Shaffer joined Morgan Eyring, Jenna Elswick and Lauren McGraw on Cloverleaf’s winning 4×400 relay.

Katie Simpson had the Colts’ other first with a 30-11 push in the shot put.

WADSWORTH — Russell McCune won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200, but the Grizzlies couldn’t overcome the Bulldogs in this SL meet. Mitch Gordon (110 hurdles), John Kuss (100) and Chester Foth (300 hurdles) had Wadsworth’s other firsts.

Revere 80, Highland 48

GRANGER TWP. —A stormy night didn’t stop Highland’s Adam Valco in this SL loss to the Minutemen. Valco won the 100 dash and joined Brandon Carpenter, Mike Rorapaugh and Jacob Blevins on the victorious 4×1 relay. He also placed third in the 400.The Hornets’ Ed Peck and Ryan Rhoads picked up wins in the discus and pole vault, respectively.
