GRANGER TWP. — A two-vehicle crash on state Route 18 killed a Medina man and sent several other people to area hospitals Friday night, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Junxing Wang, 26, was driving a 2008 Infinity G-37 east on Medina Road near milepost 20 when he lost control of the vehicle, according to a news release from the patrol. Wang reportedly went left of center and struck a westbound 2007 GMC Yukon, driven by Catherine Ford, 19, of Akron.
The patrol said Wang was taken to Medina Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after the 7 p.m. accident.
Ford was flown to Akron City Hospital with critical injuries, according to the patrol. A hospital spokeswoman said her status was not available Sunday at the family’s request.
The patrol said there were multiple passengers in Ford’s vehicle who also were taken to area hospitals, but their names and statuses were not available Sunday.
Both drivers were reportedly wearing seat belts.
Granger, Sharon, Hinckley and Bath Township fire departments responded to the scene.
The accident is still under investigation.
Wang’s family could not be reached for comment Sunday.
