Akron woman, 19, second to die from Friday night Route 18 crash

GRANGER TWP. — A 19-year-old Akron woman died Sunday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on state Route 18 on Friday night that also killed a 26-year-old Medina man, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Sgt. Tina Jackson of the Medina post said Tania Terpylak was one of seven passengers in a GMC Denali that was westbound on Medina Road near milepost 20 when a 2008 Infiniti G-37, driven by Junxing Wang, went left of center and collided with the truck.

Wang was taken to Medina Hospital where he was pronounced dead Friday night.

Terpylak was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland where she died Sunday night, Jackson said.

The accident, which occurred around 7 p.m., sent the driver of the truck, Catherine Ford, 19, of Akron, to Akron City Hospital with critical injuries, according to the patrol.

The seven passengers in Ford’s vehicle, most of whom are from Cuyahoga and Summit counties, were taken to area hospitals following the accident.

Wang reportedly lost control of his vehicle before veering into the left lane and hitting the truck.

The crash remains under investigation, Jackson said Wednesday.
