A Wednesday night storm front passed through Northeast Ohio, downing power lines and flooding streets throughout Medina County.
Dispatchers reported funnel cloud sightings in the areas of state routes 18 and 94 and between state Route 3 and Ryan Road around 7:30 p.m.
Lightning strikes were reported at several locations, setting at least one house on fire in the 3700 block of Huffman Road. All occupants made it out of the house safely, according to dispatch reports.
Lightning also struck several utility poles, causing a fire at South Vine Street in Medina.
Various areas lost power at some point during the storm. It was not clear how many people were still without power Wednesday night.
The storm also brought gumdrop-sized hail, and the county was under a flash-flood warning as well as a tornado watch most of the night.
Flooded roads were reported in several areas, including Stony Hill and Weymouth roads in Granger and Hinckley townships and West Smith and State roads near the Medina County Fairgrounds in Medina.
A vehicle reportedly got stuck in floodwaters on Ryan Road, and Ryan at Buffham Road in Westfield Township were expected to close Wednesday night due to high water.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland is forecasting more showers and thunderstorms today. with high temperatures near 80.
