WESTFIELD TWP. — A 3-year-old girl, one of seven people involved in a fatal accident Sunday night, was upgraded from critical to good condition Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Gabriella Klinect, 3, of Burbank, was a rear passenger in a 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Mark Klinect, 52, of Burbank, when the car was hit by another vehicle at 11:03 p.m. at U.S. Route 224 and Friendsville Road, according to the Medina post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Mark Klinect, of Burbank, was driving south on Friendsville, and Eric Hanning, 32, of Wadsworth, was eastbound on Route 224 in a 1997 Honda Civic. Hanning apparently did not stop for a red light and the Civic hit Klinect’s Altima as it entered the intersection, according to the patrol.
The accident killed 75-year-old Shirley Klinect, of Burbank, a passenger in Mark Klinect’s car.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, the Patrol report said.
Mark Klinect was transported to Lodi Community Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday there was no record of him in the system.
Three other passengers, all from Burbank, in Klinect’s car were transported to area hospitals. The passengers’ relationship to Klinect are unclear.
Laura Klinect, 49, was transported to Lodi Community Hospital and then flown to Akron City Hospital on Sunday night. She was listed in intensive care in serious condition Monday night, but her status was not available Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Gabriella was transported to Lodi Community Hospital and then flown to Akron Children’s Hospital, where she was listed in good condition Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Gary Gallion, 56, another passenger, was flown to Akron General Hospital, where he was not listed as a patient Tuesday night, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Hanning also was transported to Akron General Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition Tuesday night, the spokeswoman said.
Stephanie Mackiewicz, 28, of Wadsworth, a passenger in Hanning’s car, was transported to Akron General, where she was listed in good condition Tuesday night, a hospital spokeswoman said.
