GRANGER TWP. — A pair of Highland graduates have made their college selections for the 2011 soccer season.
Brandon Frederick will continue his career at Walsh University, while Audrey Owens committed to Wittenberg University.
One of the top stoppers in the area, Frederick paced a Hornets backline that posted seven shutouts en route to winning the Suburban League title. The All-Gazette and All-SL pick also scored four goals.
The NAIA Cavaliers were 9-9 overall last season and 4-4 in the American Mideast Conference.
Owens, an honorable mention All-Gazette selection, played defender and midfielder for the Hornets and will reunite with former Highland teammate Lindsay Janmey at Division-III Wittenberg.
She will join a Tigers squad that finished 13-5-1 overall and 5-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, finishing in a tie for second overall. Wittenberg was ranked in the top five of the NCAA D-III Great Lakes Region throughout the season.
