Browns pregame notes: WR Carlton Mitchell has finger surgery, inactive for game

CLEVELAND — A few pregame notes before the Browns open the preseason Saturday night against the Green Bay Packers at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

** Receiver Carlton Mitchell had finger surgery Friday and was inactive for the game Saturday. He practiced Thursday and was not on the injury report provided by Shurmur.

The team didn’t give a timetable for Mitchell’s return. He’s in a fight for a roster spot.

** The other Browns inactives were: running back Montario Hardesty (knee), receiver Mohamed Massaquoi (foot), safety Usama Young (hamstring), linebacker Chris Gocong (neck stinger), rookie safety Eric Hagg (knee) and defensive lineman Jabari Fletcher (knee).

Mike Adams started for Young, and Kaluka Maiava for Gocong.

** For the Packers, cornerback Charles Woodson and tight end Jermichael Finley were the notable inactives.
