MARIETTA, Ohio — Ohio officials have ended their contract with the head of a Bureau of Motor Vehicles office where someone reported finding a camera hidden in a bathroom.
The BMV office in Marietta in southeast Ohio was closed today after the camera was reported. The Marietta Times said the office remained closed Wednesday as the state cut ties with the local deputy registrar, Tim Amrine.
An attorney for Amrine said the move should let the office open again under new leadership. The attorney said Amrine has cooperated but does not admit any wrongdoing.
Trooper Eric Knowlton, of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, said authorities have a suspect in the case but charges have not been filed. He said authorities are still examining a camera and computer equipment.
