Medina County transit riders were up in 2011

LAFAYETTE TWP. — Medina County Public Transit moved into its new $2.5 million building Jan. 7 and on Monday released data for 2011.

• Medina Loop ridership: 21,473 for 2011, an increase of 3,010 passenger trips, or 16.3 percent, from 2010.

• On-demand ridership: 80,561, an increase of 3,266 (4 percent) from 2010.

• MCPT ridership: 102,034, an increase of 6,276 (6.5 percent) from last year.

• Average trips per hour: 2.96.

• Average trips per day: 363.11.

• Trip denials: 539.

• Clients transported in December: 536.

• Brunswick Transit Alternative ridership: 35,561, an increase of 4,861 passenger trips (15.8 percent) from 2010.

• BTA passenger trips per day: 126.39.

• BTA passenger trips per hour: 4.94.

The 20,000-square-foot building, 6094 Wedgewood Road, built with funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the Ohio Department of Transportation, houses transit dispatchers, supervisors and employees, and the garage has bays for the department’s 23 buses plus three extra bays.
