Medina keeps tennis perfection in tact

MEDINA — Medina’s boys tennis team took a 5-0 Northeast Ohio Conference crossover victory over Garfield Heights Thursday.

Alex Haley, Jake Liebler and Nick Everetts notched singles victories for the Bees (3-0), while Connor Varney and Brian Bachir and Bruce Xu and Phil Willse swept doubles play.

On Wednesday, the Bees bested North Olmsted in non-league play 4-1 behind a doubles sweep.

WESTFIELD TWP. — The Colts (2-0) had no trouble in picking up this non-league win over the Bobcats. Jacob Dunbar, Austin Bates and J.J. Martin earned singles victories. Jake Cavalier and Chris Lindemeyer and Chris Johnson and Joe Winnicki wrapped up the sweep with doubles wins.

Highland 5, Brunswick 0

GRANGER TWP. — The Hornets (3-0) showed no mercy in blanking the Blue Devils in its season opener. Steve Smykal, Michael Hutchings and Josh Hadler got things going for the Hornets with singles victories in the non-league match. Logan Gsellman and Andrew Petrilla and Bryce Yamat and Andrew Wuellner put the icing on the victory cake with doubles victories.
