Solar Savings — Is Your Home Eligible?

  Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Blog

If you would like to find a way to reduce your electrical bill, you should consider the solar savings you can potentially get with a solar energy system installed on your roof. Once your system is installed, you can get free and clean energy from the sun. However, you may first want to make sure that a solar energy system will work on your house. There are several aspects to this question that you’ll need to address before going forward.

Can Your Roof Get Enough Sun?

This is a vital point. The roof your system will be placed on needs to have as much of a southern exposure as possible. In addition, any obstructions that will block the rays of the sun from hitting the roof will limit your solar savings. Some obstructions such as trees you might be able to remove, but others, such as mountains or tall buildings, may make a rooftop solar power system impractical.

Is Your Roof Big Enough?

With solar power, the output primarily depends on the size of the panels you install. You can only install a system large enough to fit on your roof. If this will be too small to generate the power you were expecting the system to provide, you may have to reconsider.

Will Your Community Allow It?

If you live in a community that’s governed by the rules of a homeowner’s association or a historic homes society, you may have difficulty in trying to install a solar power system. Many of these organizations have tight restrictions on what they will allow. However, in some cases, it’s possible to get a waiver.

In addition to the solar savings you can get from solar power systems, you can also take satisfaction in the fact you’re helping to protect the environment.
