Medina bicyclist hit by car in fair condition

MEDINA — A 39-year-old Medina man was seriously injured when a car collided with his bicycle Tuesday afternoon in the 700 block of South Court Street.

Joseph Nebelski was taken by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where a spokeswoman reported him in fair condition this morning.

Shortly before 3 p.m., Nebelski was traveling north in the southbound lane on South Court Street when he turned around to cross the street and cut in front of a car, police Lt. Bob Starcher said.

The car was driven by Roger Eichorst, of Medina. Eichorst was not cited, but the investigation is not complete, Starcher said.

Driver should not be cited. People need to understand that bikes are considered vehicles and need to follow the flow of traffic. You cannot ride on side walks or against the flow of traffice as it is illegal, though rarely if ever are people ticketed.
