MEDINA — The Medina Community Band’s annual Veterans Day concert is 7 p.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Church, 606 E. Washington St. The program is free and parking is available.
Band conductor Marcus Neiman said the theme of the concert is “why people serve” and will include speeches and patriotic songs saluting veterans. This is the 11th year the band has done a veterans concert on the first Monday of November. Veterans Day is Sunday.
The concert is about an hour long and will include “Liberty Fanfare” by John Williams and “The Blue and the Grey” by Clare Grundman.
Featured speakers at the concert will be retired Col. David Taylor of the U.S. Army Special Forces, Sgt. 1st Class Greg Habrat of the Ohio National Guard, Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell and the Rev. Tom Stock of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Organizers will have boxes available for donations of nonperishable canned goods or money to benefit the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
