Colleen Swedyk earns second term as Medina County recorder

Republican Colleen Swedyk won her second term as county recorder, easily best Democrat challenger Jill Bell in Tuesday’s elections, according to unofficial Board of Elections results.

“I’m very excited,” said Swedyk, 48, of Hinckley Township. “I’m grateful to the voters of Medina County. I promise to keep serving them to the best of my ability.”

Bell, 45, of Lafayette Township, said she was disappointed, but she still felt confident.

“I think I ran a good campaign,” Bell said. “It was a great experience.”

The recorder makes a salary of $56,920.

Swedyk is responsible for a property fraud alert system for the county. She said she would continue to provide excellent customer service.

Bell, a paralegal, said she would provide even better customer service by making documents available online.

Bell was defeated in the March primary by Amanda Armstrong. Bell replaced Armstrong on the ballot in July after Armstrong dropped out.
