YORK TWP. — Two motorists escaped serious injury in a two-vehicle crash at Branch and Columbia roads Monday morning.

Matthew Swingle, 44, of Newton Falls in Trumbull County, was traveling west on Branch Road in a Honda Accord about 9 a.m. when he failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with a Dodge Durango heading south on Columbia Road, according to Trooper Dan Kumor of the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Medina post.

The Durango was driven by 49-year-old Michael Petkovich, of Lafayette Township, Kumor said. The impact of the crash caused the Durango to overturn.

Both drivers were conscious and talking before being taken to Medina Hospital, the trooper said. They were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland later Monday morning.

A MetroHealth spokeswoman said Petkovich and Swingle were treated and released Monday.

The drivers were alone in their vehicles.

Assisting the patrol were deputies from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office and rescuers from the Erhart-York Township and Lafayette Township fire departments.

Either someone is color blind or that Durango changed colors when it overturned! Wishing the best for both drivers.

Apparently the author of this article didn’t have the good sense to look at the photo they attached to it, as Gertrude has duly noted – I do hope the drivers are OK, though.

My dad was in the Durango. He is okay, but very sore.
