Devils drop pair in bowling action

STOW — The Brunswick boys and girls bowling teams had a rough road trip Wednesday, losing to Stow in Northeast Ohio Conference action at the Sto-Kent Family Entertainment Lanes.

The Bulldogs boys rolled away with the 2,757-2,620 victory despite K.C. Kokitka’s team-leading 448 series (222-226) for Brunswick.

Zack Miller added a 418 series (174-244 games) for the Blue Devils (2-1).

The Stow girls beat Brunswick 1,977-1,928 to keep the Blue Devils (0-2) winless.

Amanda Ohler paced Brunswick with a 388 series (197-191).

The Brunswick junior varsity boys team salvaged a win, besting Stow 2,388-2,138. Austin Hirsch rolled a team-best 404 series (170-234) for the undefeated Blue Devils (3-0).

VERMILLION — The Pirates beat the Dukes in North Shore Bowling Conference action at Lake Erie Lanes by winning the last Baker game by 35 pins. Alexis Lange paced Black River by finishing 51 pins over her average. Lange rolled games of 177 and 160 as the Pirates picked up their first win of the season. Emily Verhovitz added games of 126 and 144, while Bethany Herbert chipped in games of 108 and 137.

Buckeye 1,201, Elyria Catholic 666

LORAIN — Chrissy Nichols rolled a team-leading 339 series (169-170) to lift the Bucks over the Panthers in this NSBC match at Rebman Recreation. Hannah Burley chipped in a 251 series (128-123).

Boys

Wellington 1,922, Black River 1,849
VERMILLION — Justin Sword bowled games of 190 and 205 to pace the Pirates in this NSBC loss to the Dukes. Seryc Schmoll finished 38 pins over his average with games of 163 and 185.

Elyria Catholic 2,299, Buckeye 2,260

LORAIN — Brandon Butcher recorded a 467 series (222-245), but the Bucks still tumbled in this NSBC loss to the Panthers. Zak Diaz rolled a 373 series (173-200). The Buckeye boys JV team beat the Panthers 1,607-1,244 behind Hunter Drerup’s team-leading 360 series (169-189).
