Swimming: Lizzy Gehlmann leads Blue Devils past Stow

BRUNSWICK — Junior Lizzy Gehlmann figured in four wins as the Brunswick girls swim team beat Stow 110-75 in Northeast Ohio Conference action Wednesday.

Gehlmann won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.80 and the 100 free (56.01). She teamed with Hannah McCulloch, Melissa Froncek and Nicolette Crissinger to take first in the 200 free (1:45.10) and 400 free relays (3:51.90).

Lauren Oktavec was a double winner for the Blue Devils, placing first in the 500 free (5:36.22) and 100 backstroke (1:04.26).

Other Brunswick winners included Carli Bailey in diving (177.65 points), Crissinger in the 100 butterfly (1:06.05) and McCulloch in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.36).

The Stow boys team bested Brunswick 117-65.

Billy Silvestro recorded Brunswick’s only individual first, winning the 500 free (5:39.42).

The Blue Devils’ Silvestro, Chris Nguyen, Nathaniel Hagar and Jake Pavlisin won the 400 free relay (3:45.33).
