Pirates pick up second victory in bowling
LORAIN — The Black River girls bowling team notched its second win of the season Wednesday, downing Midpark 1,336-1,272 in North Shore Bowling Conference action at Slovak Lanes.
Alexis Lange led the Pirates with a 297 series (140-157).
Midpark won the boys match 2,155-1,965 despite a 421 series (219-202) from Brandon Wacker.

Buckeye
WELLINGTON — Zak Diaz and Brandon Butcher had big days, but it wasn’t enough as the Buckeye boys fell 2,344-2,211 to North Olmstead in NSBC action. Diaz had a 449 series on games of 235 and 214, while Butcher had 440 (247-193). The Buckeye girls only had four bowlers, with Hannah Burley leading the way with a 301 series (153-148). Buckeye lost the junior varsity boys match 1,897-1,790. Kyle Butcher led the Bucks with a 422 series (200-222).
Brunswick
BRUNSWICK — Jason Vandrasik had a team-leading 435 series (201-234) to lift Brunswick’s boys to a 2,636-2,123 victory over Mayfield (2-3) in Northeast Ohio Conference action Tuesday at Dick Hoover Lanes. Brandon Lemmerman added a 409 series (211-198) for the Blue Devils (3-1). Amanda Ohler paced Brunswick’s girls to a 1,891-1,444 victory with a 343 series (187-156). Sierra Schleich chipped in a 294 series (166-128). The Brunswick boys junior varsity crushed Mayfield 2,330-1,800 behind a 378 series (186-192) from Ryan Dickinson.
