Medina man indicted on porn charges

MEDINA — A grand jury indicted 12 people this week, including a man arrested in November after police discovered he had child pornography on his home computer.

James M. McByrne Jr. is charged with two counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, a second-degree felony, and one count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, a fifth-degree felony.

McByrne was arrested Nov. 26 after detectives executed a search warrant at his home, 725 S. Court St., and seized his computer equipment, which was examined by experts from the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

McByrne initially was charged with possessing child pornography, a fourth-degree felony. The new charges are second-degree felonies because they involve the sale, advertising or distribution of sexual material involving a minor, officials said.

County Prosecutor Dean Holman said the computer is still being examined by experts.

McByrne is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Monday.
