Medina man pleads not guilty to child porn

MEDINA — A Medina man accused of distributing child pornography pleaded not guilty Monday and is scheduled to face trial March 18.

James M. McByrne Jr., 37, of 725 S. Court St., was indicted Wednesday on two second-degree felony counts of pandering sexual oriented material involving a minor. He also is charged with a fifth-degree felony count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance.

McByrne was arrested Nov. 26 and charged with possessing child pornography, a fourth-degree felony.

The more serious charges filed by the grand jury indicate he distributed, advertised or sold the pornography.

Detectives seized his computer equipment in November after executing a search warrant. The Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force examined the contents.

County Prosecutor Dean Holman said Friday the computer’s contents still were being examined.
