Hazel Ellen Turek

Hazel Ellen Turek (nee Neff), 83, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman. After years of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, and this year cancer, she went to our heavenly home to be welcomed with open arms by her family and friends.

Hazel was born April 19, 1929 to the late Grace (Farnsworth) and William Neff at their home in Montville Township. She lived her whole life in Medina County, graduated from Medina High School and married Jack G. Turek in December, 1948. She was a member of Southwest Sharon Ladies Aid, and member of Poe United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, raising sheep, camping, traveling, riding motorcycle with her husband, being co-pilot for her husband in their private plane, and being with family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jack Turek. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Barbara J. Switter (Dennis); son, Robert J. Turek (Anessa); grandchildren, Keith Meador (Amy), Kathryn Meador, Braelyn Turek, and Bryce Turek; great grandchildren, Derek Meador, Lily Meador and Amanda Carney; she also leaves a sister, Mary Jane Mallery.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Grace (Farnsworth) and William S. Neff; baby daughter, Catherine J. Turek; half-sisters, Mildred Hileman, Martha Jenkins and Isa Rohrer; and half-brother, Luther Nixon.

A very sincere and heartfelt thank you goes to the staff of the Apostolic Christian Home and Hospice of Wayne County whose level of care and compassion for Hazel truly made them her guardian angels here on earth. Thank you to all, from her family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11 A.M. Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Reverend James Patterson will officiate. Burial will be held at Poe Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday, 6 to 8 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
