John Wright Lewis

John Wright Lewis, age 94, of Medina, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012. He was born on October 20, 1918 in Duluth, Minnesota to the late Isaac and Bernice (Wright) Lewis.

John’s career as a broker and agent in the life insurance business spanned 40 years. He graduated with a degree in business from Hamelin College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was an Eagle Scout, golden gloves boxer, a member of the Freemasons and Shriners, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Europe during World War II.

John is survived by his sons, David (Terrilyn) Lewis of Denton, Texas and Joe (Sonia) Lewis of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Sean Gilson of Madisonville, Louisiana, Sarah Tavis of Olympia, Washington, Andrew and Isaac Lewis of Denton, Texas, Marine Corp Sgt. Cody Pensabene of Denton, Texas, Halan and Ryan Moreira of Brazil, and Renan Moreira of Santa Barbara, California; great grandchildren, Jake and Ellen Gilson, Grace Lewis-Mendoza, Finn Parker, Dimitri Tavis, Henry Lewis, Zachary, Benjamin, Natalie, and Penelope Lewis, and Natasha and Agatha Moreira.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nola Fay Lewis in 1998; and his daughter, Susan Ellen Lewis in 1973.

A celebration of John’s life will be held January 19, 2013, followed by a private family interment at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
