Everett F. Pursley

Everett F. Pursley, 83, of West Salem, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at the Ohio Veteran Home in Sandusky. He was born in Granger, the son of Esley and Florence (Cooke) Pursley.

He had been engaged in farming all his life and also worked on the pipelines. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving in the Korean War. He is a member of the Truth Baptist Church in West Salem.

He is survived by four daughters, Evelyn (Marvin) Tomblin of West Salem, Becky (Brian) Frase of Burbank, Dannette Herrmann and fiance, David Slowik of Medina and Brenda (Tony) Evey of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter; a sister, Arlene (Calvin) Ganyard of Medina; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Williams of Medina.

His parents; wife, Marie; a grandson; two brothers; and three sisters died previously.

Funeral services will be Tuesday January 8, 2013, 11 A.M., at the Matteson Funeral Home, with Pastor Raymond Miller officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday evening, January 7, 2013, 7 until 9 P.M. Burial will be in Hazzard Cemetery, with military services conducted by James Stevenson, American Post 499 of West Salem.
