Medina man pleads not guilty to rape charge

MEDINA — A Medina man pleaded not guilty Monday to raping a young girl last month.

Theodore Higdon

Theodore W. Higdon, 50, of 810 Ridgeview Road, is charged with raping the girl, which is a first-degree felony punishable by life in prison because the girl was younger than age 13.

Higdon is scheduled for an April 15 trial before Common Pleas Judge Christopher J. Collier.

A Dec. 21 grand jury indictment accused Higdon of raping the girl on Dec. 2 or 3.

County Prosecutor Dean Holman said the girl was at least 10 years old, but declined to be more specific.

According to court records, Higdon was taken to the county jail Dec. 21 on a $100,000 bond, but was released 10 days later on bail.
