Grand jury indicts 4 in first session of year

MEDINA — The first meeting of the new year for a Medina County grand jury returned indictments against four people.

• Michael R. Tanner, 30, of Canton, was charged with heroin trafficking, a third-degree felony. Tanner was bound over to Medina County Common Pleas Court from Wadsworth Municipal Court on Dec. 28 and has no previous criminal record in Medina or Stark county courts. He awaits a Jan. 31 arraignment.

• Rebecca A. McGeorge, 26, of Canton, was charged with complicity to commit heroin trafficking, a third-degree felony. She was also bound over to Common Pleas Court from Wadsworth Municipal Court on Dec. 28 and also has no previous criminal record in Medina or Stark county courts. McGeorge awaits a Feb. 4 arraignment.

• Robert P. Hart III, 28, of 259 Abbeyville Road, Apt. 47, Medina, was charged with domestic violence. Hart was placed on a year-long probation in August for first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence, so his new charge was bumped up to a fourth-degree felony. He was bound over from Medina Municipal Court on Jan. 4 and has no previous record in Medina County courts. Hart pleaded not guilty Jan. 10 and awaits a March 5 jury trial.

• Stephen C. Bugg, 44, of Elyria, was charged with theft of property worth more than $7,500, which is a fourth-degree felony. He was bound over from Medina Municipal Court on Dec. 31 and awaits a Feb. 4 arraignment. Bugg has appeared in Lorain County Common Pleas Court five times since 1997 on criminal charges of receiving stolen property, illegally possessing weapons, domestic violence, breaking and entering and failure to pay child support. He has no previous record in Medina County Common Pleas Court.

Tanner, McGeorge, Hart and Bugg were indicted Jan. 4.

The grand jury meets every other week.
