Charles S. Ensign

Charles S. Ensign, 87, of Spencer, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Medina Hospital. He was born March 25, 1925 in Spencer, to Clyde and Cora (Welsh) Ensign, and attended Spencer High School.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1950, and served in Combat Infantry in Korea. Charles was a lifetime resident of Spencer and was retired from Stanadyne in Elyria. He was a member of the Spencer American Legion Post #608, and enjoyed hunting and card games.

The family would like to thank the staff at Samaritan Care in Medina for Charles’ care, where he had resided the past year and a half.

He is survived by daughter, Vicki (Rodney) Pfahler of Huron; sons, Carl of Canton, Mike of Medina; sisters, Bertha Hopkins of Medina, Doris (George) Simon of North Carolina; and brother, Frank (Ernestine) Ensign of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; sisters, Florence, Hazel, Lucille, and Margaret; and brothers, Walter, George, Leroy, Harold, Merlin, and Donald (Jake).

Inurnment, with military honors, will be held Friday, January 18, 2013, 1 P.M., at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Rittman, OH 44270.
