Black River’s losing streak in basketball hits 31 games

CHESTER TWP. — The Black River boys basketball team’s losing streak reached 31 games Tuesday with an 81-33 non-league defeat to Northwestern.

The Pirates (0-11), who trailed 47-13 at halftime, were led by a career-high 13 points from guard Jerod England.

Malachi Nolletti’s game-high 19 points led the Huskies (8-5).

YORK TWP. — Braedan Stauffer scored a team-leading 14 points and Joey Bartinelli added 10 as Buckeye’s eighth-grade boys beat Oberlin 41-32. The Bucks (14-3) will play Clearview tonight in the title game. In seventh-grade action, Adam Fauber and Justin Canedy each scored 10 points as the Bucks defeated Brookside 32-29. Buckeye (11-6) takes on South Amherst in the championship game tonight.
