MEDINA TWP. — A Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant is coming to Medina County and bringing 110 jobs with it.
The restaurant, to be in a remodeled former Steak ’n Shake eatery at 4094 Pearl Road, is scheduled to open March 6.
Job applications are being taken at the restaurant and at www.thelube.com.
Restaurant general manager Alex Diiorio said there were some rumors going around that the restaurant would not be doing motorcycle Bike Nites, a popular feature, because of its smaller size — 5,500 square feet and seating for 164 customers.
He wanted to put those rumors to rest.
“Despite the size, we intend on having Bike Nites,” he said.
Bike Nites, when customers are encouraged to show off their motorcycles and participate in giveaways, will be Thursdays beginning in April.
The restaurant is owned by the Quaker Steak & Lube corporate office, Diiorio said. It will be the first Quaker Steak in Medina County.
Founded in 1974 and built in an abandoned gas station in Sharon, Pa., the original Quaker Steak & Lube began as a cook-your-own steak restaurant, before expanding to nearly 60 locations throughout the United States and Canada, according to the company’s website.
The restaurants’ decor includes race cars suspended from the ceiling, motorcycles, Corvettes and gas station memorabilia.
