Hannah Hartley has big night in Buckeye win

YORK TWP. — Hannah Hartley lit up the scoreboard and Jessica Banas dominated the post for the second straight game.

Their performances Wednesday were huge in the Buckeye girls basketball team’s 59-49 Patriot Athletic Conference cross-division win over Brooklyn.

Hartley, a senior point guard, scored a career-high 18 points, highlighted by four 3-pointers. Senior center Banas added 11 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

Senior shooting guard Julia Sekerak (13 points) also hit double-digit scoring for the Bucks (5-9, 5-4), who won the second half 38-26.

Rachel Verba scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Hurricanes (6-7, 3-6).

Buckeye’s junior varsity won 39-8 behind 15 points from Kayla Glancy.

GRANGER TWP. — Junior post Anna Rose Wiencek exploded for a career-high 23 points to lead the Hornets (9-5) past the Rockets (5-7) in this non-league game. Senior wing AnnMarie Kirchner added 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while senior point guard Jessica Peterlin had seven points and three assists.

Lutheran West 45, Black River 32

SULLIVAN TWP. — The Longhorns (8-6, 7-3) led 26-13 at halftime and held on for this PAC cross-division win against the Pirates (2-12, 1-8).
