Ronald C. Dobbins, 71, of Grafton, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013. Ron was born April 20, 1941 in Clem, West Virginia, to the late Pastor CC Jack and Eunice Dobbins. He was raised in West Virginia and resided in Lorain County for over 50 years.
Ron was very active in FFA while in high school and was an achiever in the electrical field. He was a lifelong member of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed raising beef cattle, harvesting hay and going to farm auctions. He was a lifelong member of Dessie Baptist Church, Clem, West Virginia and was a charter member of the Elyria Baptist Church. He had worked as a CNC Machinist with Bendix and Lear Romec, both in Elyria for many years.
Ron was a 20 year member of the Country Cousins Bluegrass Band. He was a gifted musician, master of the fiddle amongst many other instruments. Ron has won 1st place in many contests, including WGAR and the State of Ohio. He wrote and published many of his own songs. The Southern Tradition Bluegrass Band consisting of Ron, his wife Sandy, the Collins Family and Ron Buckwald, performed at churches, nursing homes and at various benefits. Ron and Sandy enjoyed volunteering during the Christmas season as Santa and his Elf.
Ron was loved by all including many Amish friends and will He is survived by his wife, Sandy (nee Neumeyer) of 19 years; son, Raymond Dobbins; stepdaughters, Tammy, Terri and Joni; grandchildren, Raymond Dobbins, Jr., Steven, Stacee, Cody, Dylan and Denny; sisters, Anna Jean (Robert) Lucas, Florida, Carolyn Patrick and Linda Stine, both of West Virginia; brothers, Kent (Brenda) Dobbins, Rodney (Linda) Dobbins and Donnie Dobbins, all of West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel Suzanne Dobbins, 1980; brothers, Roy and Robert (Edith) Dobbins; and a sister, Betty Lockhart; brothers-in-law, Bill Patrick and Johnny Stine
Funeral Service will be Monday, January 21, 2013, 1 P.M., at the Richard Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, West Virginia, 26624, where friends may call from 11 A.M. till the funeral. Burial will be held in Clem, West Virginia.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested.
Bauer Funeral Home, Valley City, handled the local arrangements.
