Billie Charles Wagner, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 17, 2013, in Medina. He was born November 27, 1924 in Logan, West Virginia.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Janice Wagner Russell of Bay Village; and his son-in-law, Dr. Raymond Russell; son, William Charles Wagner of Lake Orion, Michigan; and his beloved grandsons, David Wagner Russell and Andrew Charles Wagner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Blodgett) Wagner, to whom he was married for 56 years.
He served his country in the U.S. Army, Air Force Division during WWII. Bill graduated from Marshall University, Huntington, West Virgina, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He worked his way up from coal mining to becoming a sales and marketing representative for various coal companies during his career. He served as the President of the Cleveland Coal Club, was a 32nd degree Mason, and enjoyed membership in the Kiwanis and Rotary club. After his retirement, he worked as a breakfast host at the Hampton Inn, until the age of 86.
Throughout his life, Bill never missed an opportunity to befriend, engage, or entertain anyone. He will be missed for his sharp wit and his gift to impart a smile or laugh to whom ever he had the pleasure of meeting.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held in the Spring to honor the memory of both Bill and Ellen Wagner.
