Help wanted at Litchfield Township Fire and Rescue

LITCHFIELD TWP. — The Litchfield Township Fire and Rescue department is seeking volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians.

Fire Capt. Tom Perkins said the department is not looking for a specific number of volunteers.

“We can always use as many hands as we can get,” he said. “We’re always looking, and we’ve had a few people who haven’t had enough time. Our numbers are a little bit low.”

The department has 21 members.

All training is provided by the department. Candidates must be at least 18 old, have a valid driver’s license, high school diploma or GED diploma, pass a basic physical and drug screening, as well as background check before employment.

The department meets 7 p.m. every Thursday for training, and members are expected to attend. Interested applicants should leave a message at the fire department at (330) 725-0911 or stop by 9487 Norwalk Road 7 p.m. on any Thursday.
