Tom received a B.S. degree in physical education from the University of Dayton, attended George Williams College in Chicago, Illinois, and a two year training school for the YMCA. He retired as Director of the YMCA, serving in Michigan, Alabama, West Virginia, and Ohio. After retirement, Tom focused on his love of music as a piano technician, which he did for 36 years. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 202 where he was a former chaplain. He served his county in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during WW II and was the recipient of the Bronze Star.
Tom was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Ringo) to whom he was married 57 years; loving father of Michael T. Reese and Susan K. Sipe (Len); dear grandfather of Collin (Kate) and Joshua Sipe; great grandfather of Christian R. Sipe; loving brother of John Reese (Tanya); and dear friend of Jim Libey.
Service will be held 12:30 P.M., Thursday, January 31, 2013, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 400 N. Broadway St., Medina. Reverend David Anderson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Family will receive friends at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, Wednesday, January 30, 2013, from 5 to 8 P.M., and one hour prior to services at the church Thursday, January 31, 2013.
