Vivian Maye Smith, 86, formerly of Lodi, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at Hospice of Medina County. She was born February 27, 1926 in Lodi to Herman and Edythe (Broadsword) Elliott.
She graduated from Lodi High School in 1944 and married Charles Smith on June 2, 1946. Vivian was employed by Westfield Insurance Company for over 20 years, retiring as an Assistant Underwriter in 1984. She was a member of Leroy United Methodist Church, Past Worthy Matron of Lodi Order of Eastern Star #137 and Past District President of District 4 Association of O.E.S., former member of Lodi Rebekah Lodge, and Gray Lady at Lodi Community Hospital.
Surviving are her daughter, Diane Faye (Jeff) Welday of Centerville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Shane Smith of Columbus, Chad Nicklas (Tisha) Welday of Columbus, and Jennifer Kyle Welday of Centerville; great grandson, Charlie Salaam Welday of Centerville; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Smith of Columbus; niece, Elaine Faye Gibson of Wooster; great nieces and nephews, Kim, Bill and Tim Hileman
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Dennis; and sister, Carol Faye Johnson.
Visitation will be Friday, February 1, 2013 from 4:30 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11 A.M. at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi (330-948-1122). Pastor David Rittgers will officiate. Burial will follow at Chatham Cemetery.
