Pirates, Bucks split in bowling

NORTH RIDGEVILLE — The Buckeye boys bowling team rolled past Black River 2,391-2,193 Wednesday in North Shore Bowling Conference action at Brunswick Zone.

Brandon Butcher rolled a team-leading 440 series (221-219) and Zak Diaz added a 428 (224-204) for the Bucks.

Justin Sword paced the Pirates with a 434 series (246-188) and Brandon Wacker chipped in a 431 (214-217).

Black River’s girls beat Buckeye 1,385-1,113 behind a 351 series (184-167) by Alexis Lange. The Pirates’ Emily Verhovitz had a 281 (125-156), while Buckeye’s Hannah Burley rolled a team-leading 273 (144-129).

The Buckeye junior varsity boys team posted a 1,091-616 win over the Pirates.

Buckeye’s Anthony Andrews had a 320 series (173-147), while Ivan Diaz paced the Pirates with a 290 (141-149).
