Crystal Richwine

Crystal Richwine, 66, passed away Saturday, February, 2, 2013 in Lafayette, Colorado, after a long illness. Her loving family was by her side at the time of her death. Criss will be remembered most of all for her devotion to her family, and her generosity to others.

She was born July 16, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and spent most of her childhood and early adulthood in Newark and Wilmington, Delaware. There she met her beloved husband of nearly 48 years, John Richwine, when he spotted her playing badminton on the street where they both lived.

Early in their marriage, Criss worked as an executive assistant at the University of Delaware’s data processing center to help John get through college. They spent 30 years living in Medina, where they raised three loving daughters. Criss worked for about 15 years at Edward D. Jones in Medina as a branch office administrator.

In 2010, Criss and John moved to Colorado to be close to two of their daughters and their three beloved grandchildren. Criss loved entertaining and making the holidays special for her friends and family, and she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s baseball games, gymnastics meets, horseback riding lessons and other activities.

She is survived by husband, John Richwine; daughters, Lisa Richwine, Jennifer Richwine Patrick and Cherie Richwine; sons-in-law, Michael Grebb and Brian Patrick; grandsons, Evan and Isaac; and granddaughter, Hollyn.

Criss was preceded in death by her mother, Lola Greenfield; and her father, James Milmore.

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel, 1701 W. S. Boulder Rd., Lafayette, Colorado 80026. Visiting hours will be 5:30 to 6:30 P.M., at the chapel, followed by a service at 6:30 P.M. Private burial will take place Friday, February 8, 2013, in Louisville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center, a horseback riding center that helps children and adults with disabilities. Donations can be made by mail to 11968 Mineral Rd, Longmont, CO 80504 or at www.ctrcinc.org.
