Brenda J. Hughes

Brenda J. Hughes (nee Ball) of Hewett, West Virginia, formerly of Chatham, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia. Brenda was born September 17, 1940, to the late Roy C. and Josie Ball of Hewett.

Brenda was the beloved wife of Paul; loving mother of Rhonda (David) Schultz and Kevin (Debbie) Hughes; and devoted “Grammy” to Matthew and Jessica Hughes and Cory Schultz. Brenda is also survived by her dear brother, Arnett Ball; dear sisters, Patricia Vlad, Rhoda Estep, and Sonja (James) DeHart; sisters-in-law, Florence, Thelma and Katie Ball; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest, Remol and Elmer Ball; brothers-in-law, John Vlad and Louie Estep; and sister-in-law, Elsie Ball.

Brenda will be remembered for her kindness, caring and always worrying about everyone else. She devoted her life to caring for her family and was caregiver to both her parents before their deaths. Brenda spent most of her adult years living in Ohio before moving back to Hewett, in 2007. She was employed by General Electric, MTD and Gowe Printing.

Friends may call from 12 to 2 P.M. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2 P.M., Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, West Virginia. Interment will immediately follow service at Family Gardens, Madison.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kanawha Hospice.
