Byron graduated in 1941 from Brookville High School, where he played baseball and basketball. He later was inducted, in 2002, into the Brookville High School Hall of Fame. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Byron was the owner/operator of Stupp Paving Incorporated. Byron also attended Community United Methodist Church in Brookville. He was a member of the Amvets, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #613, where he coached American Legion baseball for five years and later became an avid golfer, playing well into his 80s. He also owned harness racing horses and enjoyed watching them.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marcille (West) Stupp; children, Allan (Elizabeth) Stupp of Stinesville, Indiana, Clay (Linda) Stupp of Lewisburg, Susan Wright of Medina, Sandy (Barry) Goforth of New Lebanon; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Rexrode; brother, Bernard Stupp; infant daughter, Sheryl Stupp; and great grandson, Brody Taylor.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Kindred Funeral Home, 400 Union Blvd., Englewood, Ohio, with Pastor Jamie Vannoy officiating. Interment will follow at Parish Cemetery in Brookville. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 5 until 7 P.M., at the funeral home.
