Thief targets business during Medina ice festival

MEDINA — More than $400 was stolen from the cash register of a local business while the owners were busy with customers during the Medina Ice Festival.

Jill Buell, a co-owner of Earth Mother’s — A Metaphysical Boutique, 113 W. Liberty St., said the theft happened between 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday when she, co-owner Leslie Willoughby and two psychics were helping customers.

The money stolen was everything the store had made that day.

“It is a lot of money for a small business,” Buell said.

According to a police report, there are no suspects in the theft.

Buell said she wanted to get the word out to alert other businesses around Public Square to be watchful.

“They were bold once and will be bold again,” she said. “We’d like to make sure that other business owners in Medina don’t fall victim to this person.”

There were no surveillance cameras in the store at the time of the theft, but Buell said she plans to install them.
