Alice J. Houp, 63, of Litchfield, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013, peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was born August 12, 1949 in Knoxville, Tennessee, to the late Cecil and Eva Pearl Emmert.
Alice had resided in Columbia Station for many years prior moving to Litchfield in 2006. She was a homemaker and caregiver for her late son James, for many years. Alice enjoyed passing her time watching her favorite soap operas and game shows on television. The apple of her eyes were her two grandsons.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Karrie (Steve) Huttinger, of Litchfield; grandsons, Nick and Kyle; brother, James (Alice) Emmert, of Homerville; and sisters, Dorothy Dwyer and Brenda Dwyer, both of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 2011; son, James, in 2003; grandson, Kevin Huttinger, in 2001; brother, Cecil Emmert; sister, Mary Ann Clark.
Calling hours will be Friday, February 22, 2013, 5 to 8 P.M., at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. At Alice’s request, cremation will follow, with a private family burial at a later date.
The family extends a special “Thank you” to both the staffs of Medina Meadows and Hospice of Medina County for their loving care given to our mother and grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, The family suggests memorials may be made to Hospice of Medina County.
