Medina pastor celebrating decades of services

MEDINA — The pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church is celebrating 30 years at the pulpit.

The church, at 901 W. Liberty St., will recognize the Rev. John Peterson and his wife, Senesa Peterson, at services next week.

Peterson became the church’s second pastor 30 years ago — a year after he married. He succeeded the Rev. John Medley, the founder, who served 21 years as pastor.

Peterson said he has seen the church grow. About a year ago, the church added a new fellowship hall, with a kitchen, pastor’s office, bathroom and meeting space.

“It’s been a blessing,” he said. “We’ve been really using it.”

Peterson said the addition is used for a variety of events, including dinners and baby showers and the church’s youth program.

“We had our first vacation Bible school in it last year,” he said.
