MEDINA — A local food supplier plans to hire more than 60 people in the coming weeks and interviews will be conducted at a job fair this weekend.
The Sandridge Food Corp. job fair will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 133 Commerce Drive.
Sandridge President Bill Frantz said the corporation hopes to hire workers for production, maintenance, the warehouse, machine operation and even some managers. Wages will start at $9.67 but could more than double depending on the job’s skill level.
He said workers could be hired as seasonal or permanent employees, and they could get jobs on the spot.
“What usually happens is the people who do the best job at the end of the summer get to stay,” Frantz said, “and at that point, they become eligible for benefits.”
Frantz said this is the second job fair in two years, but the company has been growing for years.
“We’ve usually been adding about 30 to 40 jobs a year,” he said.
Sandridge employs about 560 people, he said.
He said anyone interested in applying should show up earlier in the day with a resume. The positions are first-come, first-serve, he said.
The people Sandridge decides to keep will have opportunities for promotion, Frantz said.
“If they do a good job, they can get a good job here at Sandridge,” he said.
