Mrs. Mary Morrine Owens Wine, of Abingdon, Virginia, left this Earth Wednesday, March 6, 2013, peacefully with her husband by her side, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, following a long battle with a systematic sclerosis disease.
Throughout her sickness she was strong in her faith and enjoyed everyday of life with her loved ones. Mrs. Mary was well loved by many and never knew a stranger. She was a lifelong member of Damascus Church of Christ, where she and her husband attended until her sickness.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Thompson of Medina, who died in a fatal car accident just months after their marriage. Mrs. Mary was also predeceased by her father, Larkin Emanuel Owens, Sr. of Meadowview; twin brother, Marvin Richard Owens, Sr. of Abingdon; sisters, Betty Owens Arnold of Meadowview, Ellen Owens Hines of the Friendship community in Glade Spring; nephews, Marvin Richard Owens, Jr. of Abingdon, Bo Arnold of Meadowview, Jeff Arnold of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mike Owens of Abingdon, Virginia; and one great niece.
Surviving is her husband of 47 years, Bobby Allen Wine; mother, Martha Trent Owens of Meadowview; daughters, Bobbie Jo (Ed Arellano) of Bel Air, Maryland, Virginia Bryant-McNew of Abingdon, Karen (Parag Kanitkar) of Bristol, Tennessee; brothers, Eddie Owens of Meadowview, Roger Owens (Judy) of Meadowview, Larkin E. Owens, Jr. (RuthAnn) of Abingdon and Jimmy Joe Owens (Terry) of Abingdon; grandchildren, Joshua Bryant, Eddie Arellano, Kalina Ann Kanitkar “KK”, Dylan Breeding; great grandchild, Annabelle Grace Slone (Bryant). Mrs. Mary also had many special friends, neighbors, and her loving church family.
Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Damascus Church of Christ with Pastor Walt Staude officiating, and interment to follow in Mock Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1 P.M., prior to services at the church. Pallbearers will be John Owens, Dennis Arnold, Tim Hines, Anthony Hines, Brian Owens and Marvin Ault. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Otakar KrCal, Dr. David Morin, brother-in-laws, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the ALS Foundation of America, in memory of Mrs. Mary Morrine Owens Wine.
