Carl A. Fromm, Jr.

Carl A. Fromm, Jr., 93, of Medina, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, in Medina. He was born July 8, 1919 in Lakewood, and resided in Medina since 1979. Prior to that time he lived in Westlake, where he served over 10 years on the Westlake Planning Commission and the Board of Appeals. He was a graduate of Lakewood High School and attended Miami University at Oxford.

Mr. Fromm came to Medina in 1966 and became president of Medina County Travel Service, which later became RPM World Travel, Inc. He later established agency branches in Wadsworth and Brunswick. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Medina for over 20 years.

Mr. Fromm retired in 1987 and started creating and hosting travel programs for his many friends. They included over ten tours to the British Isles, plus others to Switzerland, Ireland, Hawaii, Scandinavian countries, and Alaska. His time in the industry spanned over 30 years.

He was a World War II veteran, serving over four years in the U.S. Army Ordnance, three of which were overseas.

Mr. Fromm enjoyed many activities, including woodworking, hunting and fishing, reading, vegetable gardening, and downhill skiing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Constance (nee Wagner), to whom he was married 29 years; daughter, Susan (Vincent) Tan of Columbus; son, Robert Lee (Constance) of Rittman; four grandchildren; and stepchildren, Susan, Mark, and Andrew Wagner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elizabeth (Schaufelberger) Fromm; and sister, Marguerite (James) Gordon.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, 44256. Service will be held Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Neal Sadler will officiate. A private military burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
